Somali Muslim man asks a very disturbing question to Missionary

I long for Your salvation, YAHWEH and Your instruction is my delight. Let me live, and I will praise You; may Your judgments help me. I wander like a lost sheep; seek Your servant, for I do not forget Your commands. (Psalms 119:174-176)

Why have Yeshua’ followers kept these things from us?” Nik Ripken, an American missionary, was running a mercy ministry NGO in Somali 1992 to 1997, in the mid of civil war and followed by unprecedented drought. “I had only been in Somaliland for a few days. Yet I had already seen enough of evil, … place felt like total separation from Elohim. Somaliland in February of 1992 was a close to hell as I ever wanted to be.” While many women and children were only “skins and bonds” dying to dead for hunger, but many Muslim militant groups were equipped with trucks and AK-47 guns and full of bullets.

March 28, 1997, Tim, a son of Nik, passed away by sickness in Nairobi, Kenya, where Nik families were living. Many came to visit them to comfort: Tim’s classmates, friends and teachers as well as Nik and Ruth, his wife’s friends, even Omar Aziz, one of his Somali Muslims workers. Omar taken a trip from Mogadishu.

It’s very soon after Tim’s funeral taken place, Nik went back to Mogadishu, just to say thank you his workers and good bye; Nik and his family would back to live in the USA

“Omar Aziz met me when I landed. I gathered with the few staff members who still doing relief work.
I thanked them for their years of faithful service helping our company help their people. I also thanked them for sending Omar Aziz to us in our time of grief over Tim’s death. I described how surprised and moved I had been to see him standing at my door. I told them what comfort and joy his presence had been at the funeral.

Then a disturbing question was arising. Omar took opportunity to talk about his journey to Kenya. And saying,

“There is one thing I don’t understand about that funeral,” Omar admitted to his Somali friends.
“Nik and Ruth buried Timothy – a son who they loved with all their hearts. During the service many people were talking about Tim. People were singing. People were crying. But everyone there seemed to know that Tim was in paradise!
Why can’t we Muslims know that our loved ones are in paradise when the die?
Why is it that only these followers of Yeshua know exactly where they are going after death?
We bury our people. We weep. We walk away. And we do not know where our loved ones are.
Why? Why have Yeshua’ followers kept these things from us?”

What Nik told us is very sad and disturbing indeed:

Everyone in the room, however, shifted their attention to me, as if waiting for me to answers the question that now hung in the air. Why had Christians ignored Somalia for centuries and kept Yeshua to themselves?

They expected an answer. I didn’t have one.
Instead, another question burned in my heart. It was a question for God: Why, Adonai, when we are ending our work here, are their hearts finally ready to ask the right questions?
I had no answer to that question either. Then it was time to leave.

Why is it that only these followers of Yeshua know exactly where they are going after death?
We bury our people. We weep. We walk away. And we do not know where our loved ones are.
Why? Why have Yeshua’s followers kept these things from us?”Somali man

Probably, this following story could answer the Omar Aziz’s question. It’s happened just few months before Tim was death.

Seven of Christians, three westerners, including Nik, and those four Somali local believers were gathered together in sacred meeting in a building of Mogadishu. They did a short prayer and a time of fellowship, ending with a Holy Communion, as Yeshua told His followers to do it for remembering His dead on the cross. They want into and leaved the building at different times.

In the very next morning, when Nik was in a briefing room listening reports of the current situation in Somali, suddenly someone came into the room, telling them,

“Four Somali believers we have worked with have, in separate incidents, been ambushed and killed on their way to work. Added, “Our office has already received an ultimatum telling us that if our organization doesn’t pull of Somalia immediately, everyone who works for us will be killed.”

What making Nik more socking than that, when he was back in his office, was this one, three Somali workers, his own guards, rushed into his office building and shouting “Dr. Nik! Dr. Nik! You know that we are good Muslims!” and showing a paper a list of “Somali Infidels or Traitors” with their name included whom should be killed. “We’re Muslims, not Christians. You could tell them that their list is wrong!”

The story is retold and edited from The Insanity of GOD, A True Story of Faith Resurrected by Nik Ripken with Gregg Lewis.

This is the book that, I think, every Somali need to read, and also all followers of Yeshua haMashiah.

“Doa saja tidak cukup!” Pendeta ex-Muslim Umar Mulinde memperingati Tubuh Kristus se dunia

Tetapi mereka berteriak ‘Allahu Akbar.’ Mereka memuji Allah sementara meyakiti diriku. Elohim macam apa itu (What kind of God is that)?

Amin
