Syrian Scholar Firas Al-Sawwah: Al-Aqsa Mentioned in Quran Is Not in Jerusalem

Behold, that thus shall the man be blessed that feareth the LORD. The LORD shall bless thee out of Zion: and thou shalt see the good of Jerusalem all the days of thy life. Yea, thou shalt see thy children’s children, [and] peace upon Israel. (Psalms 128:4-6, KJV)

Syrian scholar Firas Al-Sawwah said in a March 3, 2019 interview on Al-Hurra TV (U.S.)

“The Al-Aqsa Mosque that is mentioned in the Quran is not the place we know today.
The one who said that this place in Jerusalem is the Al-Aqsa Mosque was Abd Al-Malik Ibn Marwan. He wanted to build a holy place there, and decided to call it the Al-Aqsa Mosque. Historians say that this place indeed became a Qibla for the Muslims at that time.
People from over the world came to visit it, and it has remained a holy place to this day.

“We need a general Arab-Muslim cultural revival. We should review our entire past and even the Arab history. The future revival must be based on criticism.
We should critically examine all of the hadith stories, and determine which are true and which are false.
The scientific mind is formed without us noticing.

We need a general Arab-Muslim cultural revival. We should review our entire past and even the Arab history. The future revival must be based on criticism,” Syrian scholar Firas Al-Sawwah

During religion class, when I was a 14-year-old kid in the 8th grade, the teacher told us, “that Judgement Day would not come until the Arabs and Jews fight, when the Jew would hide behind a tree, and the tree would say to Muslim: ‘Oh Muslim, oh servant of Allah, there is a Jew behind me, come and kill him.’”
The Whole class burst into laughter, even though we were still children.

In another version of this hadith, there are also rocks behind which they hide.

“Why did it make us laugh? We were raised up on modern thought. Our brains had become accustomed to it. So, the class laughed, and the teacher asked: Why are you laughing?”
We told him that it did not make sense for a tree to speak. (MEMRI TV)
